EXID’s main rapper, whose real name is Ahn Hyojin (안효진), is well known as her stage name LE.((Wikipedia article about EXID’s ELLY: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LE_(rapper))) Recently, she has changed the spelling of that to “ELLY”.((LE’s tweet about spelling her name as ELLY: https://twitter.com/ahn__ellybaby/status/1356620871113170948))
Fans noticed the spelling change in the credits for TRI.BE‘s songs. ELLY produced, composed, and wrote songs for the soon-to-debut girl group. Her name is listed in the credits of the tracklist as ELLY.((Tracklist for TRI.BE’s debut album: https://twitter.com/tribedaloca/status/1356527780905820160))
On Twitter, she said that people had been asking her about it. She confirmed that she is going back to spelling her name as “ELLY” instead of “LE”.((ELLY’s tweet about spelling her name as “ELLY”: https://twitter.com/ahn__ellybaby/status/1356620871113170948))

이제 난 내 본캐인 ELLY로 돌아가려해😌❤️
“ELLY” is not a new spelling. She spelled her name that way all the way back in 2009, when she made her first performance as a member of Jiggy Fellaz at Apgujeong Yehol.((HipHop Playa article about ELLY joining Jiggy Fellaz: https://thestac.tistory.com/m/entry/ELLY-Basick-벙개송?category=305855))
We couldn’t find a recording of that performance, but throw back to this other early “ELLY” performance at the Seoul Institute of the Arts:
ELLY continued to use the “ELLY” spelling as her stage name throughout her time with Jiggy Fellaz.((Wikipedia article about EXID’s ELLY: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LE_(rapper))) She changed it to LE when she joined EXID in 2011.((YouTube video of “Whenever You Play That Song” from 2011, notice it is by “LE(EXID)”: https://youtu.be/ltEg4sLoaX4)) And now, it is back to ELLY!((ELLY’s tweet about spelling her name as “ELLY”: https://twitter.com/ahn__ellybaby/status/1356620871113170948))
We will be changing the spelling in our tags and pages at LEGGO News over the next few days. We’ll leave the old articles as-is, but everything current and future will use her new spelling preference.
