Hani’s brother Taehwan is an actor just like his older sister. He was recently interviewed about his appearance in “Steel Troops”. While most of the interview was about him and the show, he did talk a lot about his sister Hani too.((TEN article with Taehwan’s interview: https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/312/0000483295))
Only the parts of the interview that mention Hani will be translated here. However, readers are encouraged to read the full article <here>. Did Ahn Heeyeon (Hani), your older sister in the entertainment industry, have a big influence on your debut as an actor?
I watched her long journey from her EXID debut showcase to her unknown days to her chart reversal. Those images influenced my dream to become an actor. There must have been many difficult moments, but seeing my sister who didn’t give up and believed in herself, I also felt confident that I could achieve it someday if I believed in myself and ran toward my dream.
You must have been happier than anyone else during EXID “Up and Down”‘s chart reversal.
I was in the army then. I couldn’t watch my sister’s chart reversal because I was training and couldn’t reach the outside. I was informed through a non-commissioned officer. I was surprised, but when I saw the results after the training, I got emotional. I was more than happy, and my sister was proud and wonderful.
Do you talk about acting with your sister?
We share a lot. Since we have a close relationship with each other, we have no qualms when we meet and talk. My sister and I have similar social lives because we are near the same age. In that regard, we ask each other for a lot of advice. As we talk about each other’s worries without any pressure, we get closer and seem to become more supportive.
Did you think the title of “Hani’s Younger Brother” might come as a burden as an actor?
At first, I thought it might come as a burden, but now that I think about it, it was a good stimulus. That is because I am the driving force behind my hard work, and I have a responsibility to prove it with my skills. I want to think positively and make good results.
